A little black dress is what’s known as a ‘sure thing’ – something that can be slipped into with minimal effort, can be called upon at short notice and is always guaranteed to look fabulous. Gordo would highly recommend having plenty of ‘sure things’ on standby, although his ‘sure things’ generally come from an escort agency. (Gordo: I am hurt and offended!)
If it’s been a while since your lbd has been out for a night on the tiles, then the Little Black Dress closing ceremony at the Urbis on Friday May 19 is the fitting occasion.
For the last six weeks, the UK’s Little Black Dress international debut at the Urbis has been showcasing the talents of designers from all over the UK with their version of the “perfect little black dress”.
And as with all memorable fashion shows, there’s an even more unforgettable after show party. Rub fabric with Manchester’s fashionistas, strike a modelesque pose, sip champagne cocktails while being entertained by live acts and a screening of a classic film. And get style tips from Channel 4’s Ten Years Younger and Jess Wood from Instyle Magazine. If that doesn’t send you into a fashion fever, then the prospect of winning £250 to spend at Topshop for the most inventive little black dress should.
So shake your money maker in a little black dress, happy in the knowledge that all proceeds will be going to Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy at Christie’s Hospital.
The Little Black Dress exhibition closing ceremony will take place on Friday May 19 at 8.00pm and costs £15. To book call 0161 605 8264
