Women in Property, the North West's gathering of career-focused ladies who work within the construction and property industry, is holding its annual big bash at the Midland Hotel on 23 April.

This year will be compered by Confidential’s own Jonathan Schofield, and features a charity raffle with prizes money can’t buy.

The dinner is one of the biggest events on the Manchester property calendar. Last year's attracted around 200 guests and featured speaker Gerald Ratner who raised a few chuckles with his talk about learning from mistakes.

WiP Chairman, Lisa Raynes said: ‘The Annual Dinner is a relaxed event compared to some other black tie dinners but still gives prominent Manchester businesses a valuable opportunity to network and catch up with contacts. Ratner was comedic but still instilled that rare quality, hope, into the attendees.’

Confidential's editor Jonathan Schofield will be the compere, and there'll be a charity raffle with prizes including a complete signed CD set of New Order and Joy Division reissues, and a specially commissioned picture by photographer Neil Roland.

The key prize for the evening will be a Lesley Chalmers photoshoot valued at £550. After over 30 years working in property and regeneration, most recently as Chief Executive of English Cities Fund which she led alongside Chair Sir Michael Lyons, Lesley has turned her hand to photography and the prize can be either a portrait or business shoot.

Funds raised will go to Forever Manchester. There'll be a DJ after the dinner, raffle and speeches.

The event usually attracts a 50/50 balance of genders; gentlemen working in property or construction are welcome to buy tickets – details below.

The annual dinner is a highlight of WiP's busy calendar. Upcoming events include a green badge Manchester tour, an Ian Simpson talk as part of the Influential Speakers Series and a property debate featuring Central Salford Chairman Felicity Goodey.

Women in Property is a national association with around 1,400 members, including 150 in the North West. It seeks to enhance the profile of women in the industry and provides a forum for business opportunities, the exchanging of views, networking and personal development.

In an industry where women make up only 15 per cent of workforce, networks like this are invaluable. If you're a lady working in construction or property, you ought to look into joining them. Click here for more information.

The annual dinner at the Midland Hotel takes place on Friday 23 April with reception drinks from 7pm. Tickets cost £60. For individual tickets and table bookings contact WiP chairman Lisa Raynes at lr@hallidaymeecham.com.
