John Lewis Celebrates Spring Fashions

It may have been snowing outside but this week saw the freshest Spring/ Summer fashions burst into bloom at The Trafford Centre. Thursday saw the official launch of spring in John Lewis and it was marked by a fantastic program of events including a total of five fashion shows! We at Body Confidential were keen to see what there was on offer so sloped along to one of the afternoon shows- and were bowled over!

Before the show we were treated to a tour of the shop floor by John Lewis's in store Personal Shopping Advisor, Sarah Wells. This season sees John Lewis bring in many new additions including in their Trafford Centre branch a large Warehouse concession. This forms part of the changing face of John Lewis, making it appeal to a wider market, including the younger more fashion conscious shopper.

With its airy feel and subtle lighting the store made for a fantastic backdrop for a fashion show and what made it even better was their choice of 'real women' as models ranging from size ten to sixteen- plus a couple of dishy blokes thrown in for good measure!

The show itself kicked off with the Nautical look of white and blue with hints of red. There was a great selection of styles with crisp cottons from Jesire and stripe details from Coast making the look both stylish and affordable.

Scene two displayed the huge variety of prints on offer this season, from bold graphics to pretty florals there really was something for everyone, every age and every shape! Particular favorites from this section were dresses from Phase Eight and German Designer, Claudia Strater.

Next up came the loose linens and softer shapes, including funky dress and trouser combos from Nicole Farhi and Nougat. John Lewis have really stepped up their game with chunky accessories from Principles and shoes by Miss Jennifer Lopez- whose J-Lo footwear range arrived in store last month.

Ruffles and drapes were key to the next section, with gorgeous creations selected off the peg from the likes of Principles and Planet. The layered look was captured to a tee with rich fabrics and flowing lines. This was contrasted by the next selection featuring the spring smart utility look. Taking themes from this season's military, we saw more muted tones and the boxy style made more feminine by the cleaver use of belts and pretty tops. Favorites for this look have to be French connection whose fantastic cuts and fabrics make for a very classy combination.

The finale saw a stunning array of dresses. From romantic silks and chiffons of Coast and Fenn Wright Mason, to the sleek and sassy styles of John Lewis's own brand JFW, there was an option for every occasion and a great way to end a real eye opener of a show.

As the audience scurried away to snap up all of the fashions that they had seen, it became apparent that John Lewis really does have something for everyone. An oasis of style to suit every woman's taste be it a high fashion, trend setting look, or a more classic, tailored style, it can all be found here under one big glass roof!

You too can sample the delights of John Lewis Trafford Centre and receive free style advice from their Fashion Advisors. It's a great way to sample the fashions on offer, receive great style advice and even better- it's totally free! So if you're stuck for something to wear try John Lewis- it's all under one roof, with very helpful staff and you can even have a coffee afterwards to relax!
