Last night marked the second birthday of the Northern Quarter’s favourite bar, Odd. In one way, its hard to believe that Odd has been there for as long as two years, but then on the other hand, its hard to imagine the Northern Quarter without it.
The theme was monochrome and when I asked Cleo why this was, she said ‘Just because I felt like it’ which is generally the reason how and why Odd and most recently Odder work.
Cleo has created bars that her and her mates would like to drink in, not somewhere that’s up itself with pretentious drinks. Free bars are always dangerous, but a free bar on a Monday is suicide.
Today I feel rough, but it was worth it to raise a glass – or a shot of Sambuca – to what is one of Manchester's most distinctive and entertaining drinking dens. Odd very, individual totally.
