Recently Harvey Nichols hosted the 'Taste of Yorkshire' dinner in Manchester, Lancashire. Three cheeky Yorkshire chefs were invited over to cook exclusively for ninety of us in the 2nd Floor restaurant, which had been closed off to normal traffic for the evening. When the dinner went on sale through Strictly Confidential, it sold out in 24 hours flat.
The event was sponsored by Louis Roederer, the champagne people. Richard Walton-Allen, Exec Chef at Harvey Nichols Leeds, cooked a starter of roasted Whitby cod. Bruce Elsworth, Chef Director of the world-famous Angel Inn at Hetton, cooked the main course of Dales lamb, whilst Michelin starred chef Andrew Pern, chef-proprietor of the aptly named Star Inn at Hetton, delivered a bunch of desserts on one plate that would have converted a sugarphobe in seconds. Cat Johnson described that dish as a fairy tale on a plate.
The front of house staff, led by Michael Currie, were exemplary.
The lamb was a belter, whilst gourmand Stephen Best, told Gordo he thought the cod was 'absolutely breathtaking'. Mick Hardy is the boss of Belle Vue dogs and had brought along his pal, Dennis, who thought the wine was so good he fell off his chair.
It was a cracking evening. So much so that Gordo is going to bully the restaurant into another night like this. Leave your details if you want to be first on the list, this dinner was oversubscribed times three.

NorthernGeezer, there were as it happens, Schofield has butchered me as usual..
What a great night had by all, put us down for the next one. Cheers Mancon
Me too please.
And what a tremendous evening it was - although I missed a trick in failing to get a picture of a thoroughly refreshed Gordo at the end of the night.... Sign me up for the next one
I think the real reason is that Gordo took seventeen thousand pictures and it's taking a while processing them. Grub pics will be up on Monday....
Great pics, would have been nice to see some of the grub though.
