Gordo Rapes Dave Perkins at the Frog and Bucket

Published on January 14th 2005.

Wednesday night at the Frog and Bucket fund raising for the Tsunami appeal. Gordo and Coby find themselves at the bar having a pint with Dave Perkins, the owner of the club. Dave is a geezer. It’s the first time Gordo has been in the club, a really good comedy venue. Basically, laid out as one large room with a bar at the back, you grab a table for the evening, where you can eat and drink to your hearts content. The comedians do their stuff and its all great fun.

John WarburtonJohn Warburton, City Life comedian of the year 2004 was into his set and had Gordo weeping during his tale about the jumbo jet that crashes onto the Wythenshaw estate. By the time the crash investigation team arrives, there is no evidence left and a large crowd all wearing bathing kit.

Last on was John Bishop, another City Life winner. It got better, with a story about the Manchester Run and 28 minutes, Andy Mullett, Dave Perkins and Ashley Boroder crying with laughter. Go and see either of these fellers, they are really funny

John BishopA portrait of Dave Spikey was being auctioned by Justin Moorhouse. Gordo noticed a couple of others by the same artist hanging over the bar, and reasoned to himself that Dave the Geezer would bid, no way letting the set be broken up. When Justin was giving it the ‘going going…’ at one hundred and fifty quid, with Dave as the final bidder, Gordo jumps in with a two hundred quid bid, whereupon a bidding war commences between him and Gordo. Gordo finally backs out at six hundred quid and feels he has done his job well for the appeal. Dave good naturedly shakes his hand and goes to the toilet to cry.

Well done to Lee Martin and the rest of the team for putting the night on, as well the staff who donated their tips and wages for the evening and of course the performers and Dave the Geezer for being a sport. Over four thousand quid raised.

The Frog and Bucket is an official Gordo Go.
