Give style the boot

Kathryn Whittaker starts walking with this season’s bootiful boots

Give style the boot

The chilly winter mornings are here and the nip in the air signals that it’s time to put those peep toes and flip-flops away for another year.

Pull on the woolly tights and wrap your legs in some of this season’s most stunning boots. Here’s my pick of the bunch…

Don’t mention the KANKLES

OK, first thing to say is that if your ankles aren’t your fave point then avoid this season’s shorter styles like the plague. If however you are up for the funky option a la Fern Cotton then there are some fabulous treats on the market. My top tip is to tone the colour of your boot in with that of some scrummy thick tights, this will elongate your leg and give the illusion of endless pins! New Look have a fab selection for around £20 or if you want to treat your tootsies give these lovely moda in pelle options a go for £90.

Neutrally nice:

Even this winter neutrals, creams and soft golds are big, and yes, you can, with a little help from a can of suede protector follow that look right through to your feet. Try teaming these gorgeous beige boots with cream tights or a white coat for that frosty winter wonderland look. They are a very reasonable £80 from Next - nice mid heel too- not too high.

Shiny pins:

Super shiny patent is all over the place and one of this season’s hottest looks. If an all over patent cat suit is a little too much for you then go all glossy in the footwear department. All I can say about these grey shiny sexy beasts is WOW, oh and that they are Jimmy Choo so you may need a small re-mortgage to get your mitts on them at £695-ouch! Pine not though my high street Maidens. Dorothy Perkins and Topshop both have a lovely selection to choose from that would fool even the most uptight designer diva. Blag away.

Colour me cute:

Last but not least, just bin the black for once and indulge in some of the many coloured boots that are kickin around at the moment. This fab red, slouchy pair with cute embossed crown are from Coronet at Shellys and are £70. Think black tights, mini skirt and leather jacket and you will be every inch a rock chick.

And to finish, top the look off with some funky tights - my fave at the moment are Primark- £1 a pair and pretty patterns - nuff said.
