Geisha bash

The march of Korova continues apace with the launch of Geisha up on Myrtle Street. And this week they threw a big party

Geisha bash

There's a face projected huge on the wall. Keep looking, she's got eyes that move. There are DJs, plush booths, very tasty food and even a cherry blossom tree, if we remember righty.

This week, the launch of Geisha took place. It's the seventh Liverpool venue from the Korova Corporation who, this summer, sold off the Alma de Cuba and Alma De Santiago. And there's said to be more on the way.

What was The Varsity, on Myrtle Street, has been transformed by the Gutmanns into a pan-Asian themed bar/restaurant/club where all the waitresses wear Chinese silk florals, the chaps are clad in black and the chopsticks are more lacquered than Lily Savage's hair.

Carol Vincent and Seany O’Kane from Big Brother were apparently there, among the usual party suspects, and there were plenty of people who didn't mind “living life to the full” on a school night, mainly, it seemed, from Radio City and Merseyside, with bar owners from across the city coming to see what the new kid was all about.

It's a good looking and good sounding place, quite unlike anything else up the Hope Street end, and bound to do well with the student crowd up that way.

Meantime, here are the pictures we took of some guests who were only too willing to show us how they "break the ice" at parties.
