Bank Holidays in Manchester wouldn't be the same without a Friends and Family BBQ to lead us astray on the Sunday night. This year they're promising improved sound and a bill topped by legendary reggae selector and Big Chill favourite DJ Derek.
He'll be supported by London's rising stars Tomb Crew, hot new UK producer Floating Points (a favourite with the likes of Gilles Peterson and Benji B) and a top line-up of local acts. Crowhead (who recently signed to Aim's ATIC) will be there, along with Andy Votel and Dom, Irish Mash and Joey B, and Friends and Family legends Jon K and Kwasi.
This is all happening at Kro 1, and they're keen to tell people that rain will not stop play because most of the outdoor area is covered. At midnight, the party shifts across town to The Roadhouse where Tomb Crew, Irish Mash and Joey B, and Jon K and Kwasi will keep the after party crowd entertained until the small hours.
Friends and Family BBQ, Kro 1 (325 Oxford Rd, Manchester), Sunday 3 May, 5pm-midnight, £5. After Party, The Roadhouse (8 Newton Street, Manchester), Sunday 3 May, 11pm-3am, £5. Click here for info on buying a ticket.
