Flat fantastic

If skyscraper wedges give you vertigo then Kathryn Whittaker checks out funky flats

Published on April 26th 2007.

If comfort is your bag then the flat revolution will be music to your ears- or toes, so take the weight off your feet and have a peep at my top buys for comfy chic feet.

Safari and animal prints seem to have been around for ages now but they are still strutting their stuff this spring. Rather than going for the typical leopard print try a zebra look. It makes a great basic piece as it will mix and match with most colours and add a bit of interest to any spring look. This pair is from Pump and Circumstance and cost £55.

Metallics are the look of the moment, but if tin foil and futuristic lines aren’t your taste then why not incorporate the look into a humble ballet pump? These silver flats are from Dorothy Perkins and at £25 would make a great addition to any wardrobe. Pop them with a long linen skirt and slouchy bag for a funky relaxed look.

Bright and fluorescent colours are flooding the high street with this whole 8os vibe and shoes are no exception. Even flats can be interesting by using fresh vibrant shades and even patent finishes. These bright yellow pumps are £25 from Faith and come in a whole range of colours including orange and blue guaranteed to add some zing to your step.

The sling back is making a big comeback in both heels and flats and provides a refreshing alternative for the summer months. This leather open toe version is £45 from Bronx and comes in this gorgeous orchid colour. Try painting the nails with a metallic shade for a super spring look.

So put your best foot forward and leg it to your local high street to stock up on this super comfortable spring staple.

Happy Shopping

Kathryn
