Frocks with wellies – it could only be festival fashion

Fashion rocks

The rain is coming down and there is a nip in the air – perfect timing for Glastonbury.

Yes, festival season is upon us and with it the usual quandary of what to wear without looking too try hard, too grungy or just too much like you’re out clubbing on a Saturday.

Ever since the likes of Kate Moss and Cat Deeley squeezed into their oh so tiny khaki shorts and green wellies, the festival circuit has become as much about the fashion as it is the music. So here you go ladies, my pick of top festival fashion that will leave you looking more boho chic than festival geek.

There is nothing like a good festival to bring out the boho babe in a girl. Now, I’m not making any promises but I’ve heard that this summer is set to be a scorcher so why not go for this season’s must have maxi dress. It’s a great option, dead comfy and keeps you cool. This floaty frock is from www.asos.com and costs £45. Pop it with some silver flip flops and chunky beads for a funky summer look.

Festivals are really the only time wellies can look cool - trust me on this one. This year is all about making a statement with your boots and what better way than doing your bit for the environment. These green tree print wellington boots are just £20 from Dorothy Perkins and £5 from the sale of them will be donated to the Woodland Trust charity Your £5 allows the Woodland Trust charity to plant a tree, Dry feet and a halo, its got to be a good look.

The trick to festival chic is the ability to cater for what ever the British weather can throw at us- my top trick- layering. Make sure you take a couple of fab coloured vests with you. This way you layer up to protect from the chilly wind and then strip when it heats up (or you are rammed in a sweaty tent). This one is from M&S costs a tiny £3.50 and comes in a whole array of summer shades. What is even better is that all their basic vests are currently 3 for 2 so get your skates on and grab your festival staples now.

What lazy summer weekend outfit would be complete without the good old shades? Leave your designer ones at home and make sure you purchase ones but do make sure they are UV protective. There are some great styles around this season from the 8o’s wayfarer to funky oversized lenses a la Ms Richie, just go with the flow and buy what suits your face shape. These gorgeous aviators are from Julian Macdonald at Debenhams and with a £20 price tag are designer without lavishing the lolly.

Now pitch your tents and enjoy the party

See you soon,
