Exclusive: First Video From 70m On Starflyer, Manchester

SKYFLYER is fabulous.

There's nothing wrong with a tootle round the city sat in a bucket seat seventy metres (230ft) from the ground on a blustery day. Refreshing I tell you.

The city centre has always been a focus for fun and thrills as much as commerce and governance.

Let's have more rides.

It's even better when the Pennines look about an inch away and are romantically covered with snow. But this will be a good experience in any conditions.

Aside from City Tower just to the south west you have a view over the buildings in the immediate vicinity in all directions.

Of course a head for heights is necessary.

Manchester's Councillor for Fun, Pat Karney, might have organised the arrival of Skyfler but he's too 'yella' to ascend himself. He blames this on a trauma he suffered at Belle Vue, the long gone Manchester amusement park, in 1879. Or maybe 1880. Something like that.

Personally I'd love more of this stuff in the city centre. And if the predicted extra 10,000 people turn up per week to be entertained by Starflyer then it'd be worth it.

What about a big dipper on Manchester Arndale?

A huge slide down the back of Urbis?

The Starflyer will be open throughout the day from 10am to 10pm. Cost will be £6 or £20 for a family concession ticket (2 adults and 2 children). Passengers must be over 6 years of age to ride the Starflyer.

Here's the video of Starflyer.

Just realised I can see the chairs from my Castlefield balcony when they're up high.

Saw this with my own eyes at the weekend, and it has to be the biggest chav magnet I have ever seen. and why anyone would want a birds eye view of Piccadilly bus station is beyond me.

Can you define chav please?

They're not 'chavs', because as SMITTY puts it;

"they're a bit rough round the edges"

...and which is why she's proud to call Manchester home.

Ok...I'm off back to the Mail Online now, eh SMITTY?

You appear to think (do you ever really think?) that there is some connection between being housed by the council and violence. What a narrow, depressing view of people - you need to get out more and to understand how wonderful the world is and this is due to the diversity of the human species. Violence is not limited to those living in a particular tyoe of housing
