English Lounge and Bobby Charlton

Quiz time in the Northern Quarter delivers black puddings

English Lounge and Bobby Charlton

As the city focused it’s attentions on the launches of the fashion weekend and food and drink festival last night, its top financial minds were crammed into the upstairs Library Restaurant at the English Lounge for a networking event hosted by CLB Coopers, which was celebrating all things Manchester.

And what a snapshot - Manchester’s suits tapping their feet to the sounds of Oasis and The Happy Mondays, whilst chatting freely about tax and commercial banking. Indeed.

The canapé menu kept with the Mancunian theme – Hot Pot, Eccles Cakes and Manchester Tarts. Although calling a Corned Beef sarnie a Bobby Charlton Special is tenuous, despite the fact that according to event organisers, these are the football legend’s favourite butties.

The quiz finale was entertaining and educational and winners were rewarded with goody bag which included a prize to top all goody bag prizes to date – a black pudding.

Well done to ManCon reader, Nick Johnson from Glaiysers Solicitors, who won the £100 meal at Chez Gerard in our prize draw at the event.
