The Levellers

What: The 6-piece group is celebrating their twentieth anniversary this year. After hitting the big time in 1994, the band spent the next decade reaping success both in the studio and on stage. Like many a good rock band, the lads have had their fair share of ups and downs whether it be drug battles or line-up changes, nevertheless there back to say buh-bye.

Boyz II Men

What: A boy band with the all important credibility factor that so many quite frankly don’t have, Boyz II Men have sold 60 million albums worldwide. This tour celebrates the re-release of their hit love-song ‘End of the Road’, yes that’s the one which got many 14-year-old girls through boyfriend break-ups back in the mid-nineties. Expect nothing less than their back catalogue of heart-wrenching, tear-jerking ballads. Lighters at the ready.

Odder

What: Free cocktail on entry (that’s reason enough to get down there) for the launch of Pepsi RAW soft drink. The event includes magician, John Van Der Put, the world’s foremost musical mime artist ‘Johan Libbowitz’ and Delia du Sol, the UK ’s top contortionist wowing audiences.

Testing the Echo

What: Dip into the melting pot of Britain with this charming play by David Edgar. Best known for his adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby, this play explores the twisting road to becoming British through the lives of a group of immigrants from places such as Serbia, Pakistan and Somalia.

Talking to Terrorists with Manchester Met Drama Society

What: What makes ordinary people do extreme things? Robin Soans spent a year interviewing people from around the world who have been involved in terrorism. As well as those who’ve crossed the line, he met peacemakers, politicians, soldiers, journalists, hostages and psychologists. This play is a product of their answers, where verbatim theatre is powerful, and where real-life replaces fiction.

EXHIBITION

Upper Space

What: Sunshine Studio’s is now a creative base for dance, music and art. The building is an arty addiction, hosting everything from acoustic jam nights, photography studios, hip hop Sunday schools and music production courses. This week saw the launch of their art gallery Upper Space which is located on the second floor. Within the next month, Upper Space will also be adding a café for customers. What: Love ‘em or hate ‘em, tattoo’s make you look. What: It’s been 20 years (yes 20 years) but the one man army is back. The film’s slogan reads: ‘Heroes never die...They just reload’. For the fifth Rambo film, the character who has now turned his back on violence and conflict, comes face to face with the dilemma of whether to help save captured missionaries. Watch Sly do what any lone (retired) warrior has to do, the only way he knows how…Whether a man in his sixties should be doing these capers is another question.

What: The girls are back in town, for the last time ever. The comedy duo is calling it a day after 20 years in the business. Expect the classic French and Saunders skits as well as some new material. The two comics, who have had massive personal success with The Vicar of Dibley and Absolutely Fabulous are going out whilst they’re still at the top of their game. Good choice ladies. Maybe could have done it earlier.

The Circle Club

What: Creative departments nationwide have found themselves lacking female creative talent. Why is this? Could it simply be that they are not funny enough?
