A new event has appeared on the Manchester horizon and is heading this way faster than Hurricane Ivan.
The Smooth fm North West Comedy Awards in association with Argent started life as idea brewing in our heads back in mid-Summer to celebrate the contributions of a few comedians from the region, but by the time the event hits the streets on October 28th, what the city will have is a fully fledged black tie dinner, set at
One Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester.
Hosted by the crew from Phoenix Nights, the night will see some of the finest food from the north west served up with a succulent side order of belly laughs. The dinner is even going to be designed by our own resident food critic Gordo, so you'll be able to find out yourself if the big man can walk the walk when it comes to a decent feed.
ManchesterConfidential.com will be donating all profits from the event to the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy so it's time for Manchester companies to dig semi-deep into their pockets, past the chewing gum wrappers and 2p coins that have been sat there since the 1970s and pile some decent cash into a worthwhile cause that will bring the house down on October 28th, although we're hoping it doesnt get replaced with a rusty old big wheel if it does.

Nordoff-Robbins is committed to providing music therapy of the highest quality for people in need. Although they have a therapy centre in London, the north west needs its own. To help achieve this The Smooth FM Comedy Awards have agreed to become a non profit event with all profits going straight to the charity. Tickets are limited.
With the exception of the prestigious Les Award, presented by the late, great Les Dawson’s wife on the evening, the awards will be the first in the region to recognise comedic performances with a north west bias; full information on the categories along with the public voting system can be found on the web by

The Best Performance in Soap is a category that we're leaving up to the public - we've whittled down the potentials into an easily selectable list for you to choose from -
