Bothered?

Fashion works in a weird and wonderful way. Just when you thought you could spot a trend, then along comes the truly unpredictable.

Bothered?
Love it or loathe it, according to style bible Vogue we should all be looking to chavs for our fashion inspiration.

The magazine has identified a new trend: "upmarket-downmarket" where kebabs, diamante and jelly shoes are now the height of cool.

Last year, Vogue plumped for hoodies as the new fashion favourite, despite being the staple attire of young delinquents on ASBOs. Leggings, bitchiness and the colour white also appeared in the second annual `Who, What, Where, Now!' list.

Top of the chav’s wish list is the The Miu Miu iPod case, costing around £100, featuring a suitably tacky silvertone heart and logo charm with a long "lobster clip" shoulder strap.

Popular with little girls in the 1980s, jelly shoes are experiencing a come-back with High Street stores such as Faith and Office getting in on the act.

True fashionistas are embracing the trend for tat but still buy their diamante and jelly shoes from designer stores. But for those with slimmer wallets, chain stores are aiming to combine designer looks with budget prices. Topshop, Gap and H&M are among the brands that have signed up catwalk names to create their own ranges of clothes.

And who can we thank for the reign of chavism? Loveable scally tv icons like Lauren from the Catherine Tate sketch and Little Britain's Vicky Pollard.

Gee thanks guys.
