Kathryn Whittaker finds swimwear to suit all body shapes

OK, so the rain is lashing down, its 15 degrees and as you sit slumped at your desk summer seems a long way away.

Well, I’ve got news for you. This is it - high summer has arrived so if you haven’t booked your exotic get away there really is no better time. If you’re jetting to sunnier climes her is my pick of this season’s best swimwear to wet your appetite. For those of you staying here in blustery blighty Britain, grab a cuppa and feel smug in the knowledge that you can ditch the bikini diet for one more year.

If blessed in the breast department, I know that finding that perfect bikini can be an absolute nightmare. Getting enough structure without looking like you are wearing some sort of orthopaedic implement is tricky and your assets can end up round your knees if you go for one of the trendy string versions.

Large chest
Thankfully those lovely people at Bravissimo have come up trumps once again and this year they have, in my opinion, excelled themselves with their best style to date. This gorgeous Myleen Klass esque white bikini with tie brief is simply amazing. It boosts the cleavage and gives a superb shape. Such superior fit comes at a price of course (£45 top, £22 brief) but believe me it is the best £68 you will ever spend and will last you a good few hols. It is available in sizes D-G and also comes in chocolate.

Smaller bust
For a smaller bust go for a style that maximises what you have and play up your puppies! Horizontal lines across your chest will maximise the area and brighter shades on the top half, with deeper colours placed on the bottom will ensure that your thighs and bust are proportioned. This stripy bikini from Jon Rocha at Debenhams is a perfect example and is now only £11.20 in their sale so grab yours quick!

Jelly belly
Now then, in the words of one of my clients whilst holiday shopping: “What about Tina my talking tummy?” named due to the fact she could grab the rolls and make them into a mouth shape - I loved that. But if your tummy is your area of concern, then have I got a treat for you (No diet needed). This Miraclesuit tankini top has a lined shelf bust with padded cups and a pleated wave design below the bust, drawing the eyes away from the tum and up to your face. The fully lined bottom is high waisted and offers great control and support, pulling you in and improving your posture. In short- big knickers for the beach, and stylish too- brilliant! The Miraclesuit set is from www.figleaves.co.uk and costs £125.

Cover up
Covering up on the beach has never been so stylish as this season the stores are littered with an array of colourful Kaftans and wraps. These make a great investment and can be worn over a vest with linen trousers or jeans back home. Accessorize, Primark and H&M all have a great selection, but my favourite is this purple patterned option from Next. The beading round the neckline and the flattering length all make it a great choice and at just £22 it’s a bargain to boot! Wear it on the beach or with white linens and vest for a relaxed and colourful summer look.

As Gordon Ramsey would say “Bikini, Kaftan, Beach – Done”. All you need for a bloomin lovely beach babe look. So grab your sangria, dust off the shades and head for the sun. Now, where did I put that brolly?
