With the help of Embrace frontman Danny McNamara the Action in Vulnerable Communities group (AiVC) which aims to raise cash for crisis in Zimbabwe, is putting on a night of local music and talent at Moho this Friday, 24 April. 'Party in Zimbabwe vs Aftershow' will feature a line-up including, Whiskycats, The Virgin Marys, Universal Connection (Soca and Caribbean dance troupe), The Circus Electric, Carlis Star, Palmstruck, Matt Reed (Frog and Bucket resident), DJ Andy 'Madhatter' and aftershow DJs plus prize giveaways, arts and crafts stalls, visuals and body art throughout the night.
AiVC is a group set up by four University of Manchester post-graduates and Zimbabweans who aim to assist and empower communities in post-conflict countries across the world. The ex-students need to raise £3,400 to send a shipment of second hand school equipment to the Gweru district of Zimbabwe as well as an extra £3000 to register their AiVC group.
Danny McNamara said: "We're delighted to be involved with this project. It's a great cause and we're happy to get behind it while they try to get on their feet. We're looking forward to the night too. There's a lot going on and there's some unusual stuff, so it should be a good one."
