If you’re partial to a gin tipple, modern art or better still drinking gin whilst perusing modern art, you need to get yourself down to The Lowry for the Bombay Sapphire Partners In Design event.
Beginning the evening with refreshing gin mixes such as gin and cranberry or that old classic, gin and tonic, prepare for a tour through the seven winning glass designs from the prestigious Bombay Sapphire Prize – the world’s biggest annual international award celebrating excellence in glass. From the sublime to the bizarre, expect everything from practical glass wares to more artistic glass forms. There is also a ‘gin stop’ within the exhibition where you can see for yourself the ingredients (better known as botanicals) which make up Bombay Sapphire. Look, smell, touch and taste.
Following the tour, Bombay Sapphire drinks are on offer in the lounge area, as the mixologists show you how popular cocktails such as Cosmopolitan’s and Martini’s can be recreated with that all important Bombay Sapphire twist. There is even your own chance to have a go at concocting a cocktail, as well as learning why James Bond likes his shaken and not stirred.
Start as you mean to go on with your very own Bombay Sapphire goody bag complete with a bottle, glass and mixer so you can practice all you’ve learnt at home.
Partners in Design is showing at The Lowry hotel from 9 October to 4 November. Entrance to view the exhibition is free. Tickets to the Cocktails By Design evenings are priced at £10.
