It’s hard to believe but it’s a year since the Manchester fashion market in Tib street set up stall and launched the careers of aspiring designers, who otherwise might be working in factories hemming knickers for a living.
To celebrate the success of the designers and their creative flair, the fashion market will be sharing out birthday cake with visitors on Saturday May, 6 - Just make sure you don’t wipe your fingers on the garments.
If you haven’t been for a sniff around then shame on you. As all labels are independent, it’s the perfect place to pick up an original item and bag a bargain while supporting fledgling talent.
Me&Yu is one of the stalls who have been trading since the launch of the market. The design partnership of Gordon Cullerne and Angela Hulme, sell menswear and womenswear comprising mainly jersey pieces such as hand made and hand printed tee shirts, hoodies, dresses and skirts.
Angela said: "Since trading on the Fashion Market we have built up a regular customer base and now have a stall in Affleck’s Palace as well. We have been involved in a number of events in Manchester, such as the Little Black Dress exhibition in Urbis and have also won a place to trade in Barcelona."
The fashion market takes place every Saturday from 10am until 5pm on Tib Street in the Northern Quarter.
