Move up Academy, budge along Roadhouse, make space for a little’un. There’s a new venue squeezing into town. In terms of size, 235Live is somewhere around the Roadhouse/Night n Day/Academy 3 mark. But as for everything else, it’s in a league all of its own.
Situated on the first floor of the brand new Manchester 235 venue in the Great Northern Warehouse, 235Live is the most decadent, pimptastic live entertainment space in the city. With its pink and orange padded walls, mosaic tiling, twinkly stars in the ceiling and a sound system that will blow your head off, there’s clearly been no expense spared on this state of the art venue. Even the backstage area is pristine.
235Live is opening on October 27th, just in time for In the City 2006. Traditionally based at the Midland Hotel, this year’s In the City will be supported by fringe events at the Midland’s glamorous new neighbour, and will be bigger and better than ever.
Jay Taylor, entertainment manager at 235, hopes that delegates and music fans will use the bar area at Manchester 235 as a meeting point throughout In the City. Being open until 6 o’clock am, it makes an ideal place to drink away the hours after the nightly events.
To celebrate In the City 2006, 235Live will be holding a weekend of special events in association with Xfm, the Band Agency and A Toast to Absent Friends.
