SCREENFIELDS, Manchester’s Thursday night open-air cinema, returns to Spinningfields in May – and we’ve got the line-up.
The summer run, sponsonred by Stella Artois, kicks off Thursday 5th May at 8.30pm with 80s classic Top Gun starring Tom Cruise.
May: 5th Top Gun, 12th Social Network, 19th Some Like It Hot 26th Fame
June: 2nd The Goonies, 9th Rocky, 16th Dirty Dancing, 23rd Point Break, 30th Anchorman
July: 7th Touching the Void, 14th Forrest Gump, 21st Sex and the City, 28th A Fish Called Wanda
August: 4th The Breakfast Club, 11th 21 Grams, 18th Ghostbusters, 25th Saturday Night Fever
September: 1st Grey Gardens, September Issue
Screenings will cost £2 each or filmgoers can purchase a Screenfields Season Ticket for only £9.99. Season ticket holders will also be the first to find out about Shhhinema...., a one off special screening in a secret underground location.
The Alchemist will be supplying the outdoor bar, while Southern Eleven will be providing a gourmet barbeque. Deckchairs and blankets can be hired from as £2.
The family film club, showing kids films every Saturday morning at 11am is set to continue over the school summer holidays beginning with Toy Story 3 on Saturday 23rd July.
To celebrate the opening of The Avenue, Screenfields will be holding a special season finale double bill of behind the scenes fashion screenings. On September 1, acclaimed documentaries Grey Gardens and The September Issue will be shown consecutively on the screen from 6pm.
This summer’s biggest sporting events including Wimbledon, Formula One and The Open will also be shown.
Fran Goddard, head of communications and events said: “We have a really varied programme of film and sporting events this summer and our outdoor bar and barbeque makes Screenfields the perfect place to enjoy lazy summer nights.
“This year we have also used our Facebook and Twitter accounts to find out what films the people of Manchester would like to see on the screen and due to the popularity of Dirty Dancing last year we have decided to show this again.”
