Confidential's in-house aerial photographer flies high above the region's stadiums and seaside towns

Confidential staffer Emma Golpys is a self-confessed photography geek. While snapping paparazzi-style shots of partygoers at a recent Confidential event, she gets talking to one of our Heroes, Newton. Turns out that he's a photographer too, and he has a spare place on an aerial photography trip from Blackpool to Manchester.

So a few weeks later, off she goes with him to Blackpool airport, where they meet pilot Pete Pemberton of Fly Blackpool. Pete's claim to fame is that he taught Angelina Jolie to fly back in 2004. Suitably reassured by his credentials, Emma squeezes onto the tiny Sessna 172, camera in hand.

At 1000 feet up, and with a big black storm cloud approaching, Newton announces that he needs to open the window to take his photos. Emma just about keeps it together long enough to take the following shots of our North West landmarks...
