Food and Drink Festival - Sozumi Now

Published on October 27th 2005.

Having had the pleasure(?) of working with Phil Jones a few times over the years, I can honestly say the man hasn't got a clue about anything (apart from how to screw a load of money out of something).

My experience has been more on the music side, but he's as much of a shiester there as well. Never spend a penny more than is absolutely neccessary. Always turn up later than you agreed, to find everyone else has done your job for you.

Have you noticed how everyone who works for him is about twelve. Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

The brochure for the festival! What a load of crap (apparently thrown together a week before the print deadline, and it shows). How can the council let him get away with it year after year? The old boys club thats how. Those who got their nose in the trough a few years ago (during the Hacienda "glory" days) have all stayed there pigging away. Bullshitters the lot of them.

I work all over the place on corporate do's, events management etc, and have refused to have anything to do with In The City, Food and Drink or most other Manchester events for years now, because they are all embarassingly mickey mouse! It really winds me up, and I'm glad someone like you has had the balls to say "the emporer has no clothes". I have lived here since '88, a southern refugee, and I love it here, but the city showcases are pants. London is shit, we all know that, but they do do good organisation. So should we up here, let the revolution begin!

Having said all that, I'm going to hide behind an alias name/email address. Sorry, I still have to work with all these idiots (very occasionally). I take my hat off to you though for putting the cat firmly amongst the pigeons.
