What three albums couldn't you live without?
That's too difficult! The one I am listening to right now is Harvest, by Neil Young. I was really obsessed with A Man Needs A Maid when I was about 12. It seemed like random sentences all thrown together but it all makes perfect sense in the song, and I remember understanding that as a kid. Another all time favourite is First Take by Roberta Flack.
What were the first and the last records that you bought?
I don't remember the first record I bought but the last was Demon Days by the Gorillaz, which I got just last week.
What was the first live gig that you went to?
It was to see Howie, my older brother, in one of his first bands, Telephone. I think I was about 13.
And the last?
My own last week at a festival in Nottingham.
That doesn't count
It does! I was watching my support band.
What tune is running around your head at the moment?
Expecting to Fly, by Buffalo Springfield. I'm going to do a cover of it. It won't leave me alone.
What newspapers/magazines do you read?
The Observer and The Sunday Times and, on the tour bus, the Mirror.I always buy Grazia and Elle, and Vogue sometimes too.
What word do you most like the sound of?
Bumblebee. It's a nice word to say and it suits a bumblebee because they just bumble along
Which website do you visit most often?
Youtube, and mywardrobe.com. I haven't bought anything off the last one, I usually buy stuff off net-a-porter.
Who or what do you listen to on the radio?
I don't really listen to the radio much but, when I do, I like Revolution, a Manchester station. I've been in there and done sessions a few times. They are a really nice bunch of people, independent and totally into music.
Is your single getting much airplay?
6 Music are hammering it and Revolution play it a lot. It's getting spot plays on Radio 2 and Xfm but it hasn't been playlisted on the major stations. They think it's too dark, but that's their loss.
Are you a Sky person or a Freeview box person?
What was the best television programme ever made?
Happy Days. I think it's really funny and really get into it, but everyone laughs at me for liking it.
What is your best film?
Probably Taxi Driver, or Amelie. And I think Pan's Labyrinth is fantastic.
What book in childhood made the biggest impression on you?
Peter Pan. We lived in New York when I was a kid and I had an American edition of it which I adored. I used to copy the illustrations.
What's your current book at bedtime?
A biography on Sam Cooke.
Do you go to the theatre?
Not often, but the last play I saw was called Embers, with Jeremy Irons, and it was wonderful.
Who or what makes you laugh?
Loads of things every day. I laugh quite easily. My tour manager, Keith, makes me laugh, and Father Ted especially.
What single work of art do you find the most moving?
I am moved by so many pieces of art, but I think certain things hit a nerve at different times. At the moment, the song Expecting to Fly, by Neil Young, can't fail to bring me to tears. I re-read The Crucible not long ago and some of the lines in that made me stop cold they hit me so hard. I think its a transient thing how different pieces affect you.
Which public figure do you most admire?
Jane Fonda is someone I think is amazing for the life she has led, the things she has achieved, and the things she tries to achieve. She is very brave. Also my brothers, Howie (formerly of The Stills) and Sean (from The Zutons) for how hard they work and their dedication to their craft.
