MONDAY evening at the Mark Addy having a pint our writer Neil Sowerby had recommended in his beer column this week - click here.
He was right to point it out.
Redwillow brewery down in Macclesfield really knows what it's doing. Nectar in the form of ale this. Absolute balance, great taste, a world away from the hop overkill currently in vogue.
Makes you feel mellow.
Then, as we watched sat on the Addy terrace, and after a grey day, the sun went all aglow on us.
Colours leapt to life and from 93 million miles away our local star caught the commuters crossing the Spinningfield's footbridge at just such an angle that their souls seemed to split from their bodies and hurry down into the dark waters of the River Irwell.
Within a minute the angles had changed and the moment was gone.
Beautiful it was. And strange.
Perhaps the ale helped.
Here's a Youtube clip of the bizarre scene.
