Manchester Book Market 17/18 June - this weekend

St Ann's Square, Manchester
 (Readings  noon-5pm)

The Manchester Book Market brings the best independently produced novels, poetry, short fiction, art books, sci-fi, horror and non-fiction right to your doorstep, at a time when high street bookshops are growing increasingly conservative...

Situated in the bustling St Ann’s Square, just off Deansgate, the market’s a great place to browse, grab a coffee, buy a book, and listen to live readings from the best in the region's spoken word talent...

Aspiring writers can also meet representatives from the North’s finest independent presses – including Peepal Tree, Route, Comma, Crocus/Commonword, Dreamcatcher, Flapjack, Nightjar, Satchel/Suitcase, Night Jar, Hidden Gem, Interzone, and many others. So if you’re an aspiring writer, why not make contact with publishers and put your name about?

There’ll be live readings on Friday and Saturday, from noon–5pm:

Dominic Berry, Steven Garside, Tony Walsh aka Longfella, Gordon Zola, Mike Duff, Copland Smith, John Darwin, Maria Roberts, Peter Wild, Eleanor Rees.

Special Peepal Tree Showcase: Seni Seneviratne, Nii Parkes, Desiree Reynolds, Simon Murray and Angela Barry; Sabeen Hussein, Baba Israel, Tim Lees, Conor Aylwood.

Marvin Cheeseman, Max Seymour, Claire Massey, Zahid Hussain, Alison Littlewood, Bill Rogers, Steph Pike, Ade Jackson.

Penultimate - featuring Ali Gadema (aka Frisko Dan), Ben Mellor and Martin Stannage (aka Visceral); Anna Tuck, Mark Mace Smith, Anna Percy, Helen Clare, Conrad Williams, Chris Woods, Adrian Slatcher.

Flapjack Showcase: Jackie Hagan, Dave Viney, Tony Curry, Fergus Evans, Dermost Glennon, Gerry Potter, Annie Clarkson, Rod Tame, John McAuliffe
