Even if you don't know much about art and just know what you like, there's plenty to take your fancy at dot-art's charity auction this week

Get bidding and help Claire House

Grown out of that Che Guevara/Kitchener/tennis bird poster? Want some real art on your walls?Well you can do a lot of people a favour by taking your wallet down to dot-art this Thursday.

Dot-art, run by Lucy Byrne, exists to promote and sell the work of local artists, many of them very good indeed. On April 19, the gallery is staging a silent auction in aid of raising funds for Claire House.

The event is part of the Claire House Corporate Challenge set up by city law firm Halliwells who have got local businesses, including Everton FC raising cash, in competition with one another, to help the children's hospice on the Wirral.

What's up for grabs? Some of this lot, here, make up the lots at the Oriel Close gallery, off Water Street. But don't hang about. It's a one-nighter and dot-art will be moving out at the end of the month with no forwarding address , - as yet.

“We have been in our gallery in Oriel Close since September,” says Lucy, “thanks to the generosity of our current landlords, Bruntwood, but unfortunately, they now have plans for the space and we have to move out.

“We have been frantically looking for any sympathetic landlords, who would be willing to give us the use of some space in the city centre, so we can continue to help our artists and promote local art around Liverpool.”

Claire House is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life, providing specialist respite, palliative, terminal and bereavement care, so if you were ever going to dig deep to make your home, office or maybe even your investments look better, now is the very time.

And if you can help with a new space for dot-art, email us (editor@liverpoolconfidential.com) and we'll pass the info on.
