Margaret Cahill, one of Manchester’s most reputable painters, is opening her new exhibition at The Lowry Hotel Art Gallery this week.
From Thursday 30th March to Tuesday 9th May, Manchester’s premium hotel will display Cahill’s ‘A Place Apart’; a selection of atmospheric, disturbingly beautiful paintings, which for the artist’s intent remain honest yet elusive.
Margaret Cahill, who is based at Rogue Studios in Manchester, graduated from Manchester Metropolitan in 1995 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (Painting). Since graduation, Margaret has built up a steady career with numerous solo and group exhibitions in the North and South of England and aboard in New York, Stockholm, Estonia, Taiwan and Tokyo.
In bringing together photography and a style of painting which verges on the abstract, Cahill’s work plays with ideas of models and representation. It raises questions about inherent meaning in the image as well as perceived perceptions of reality in art.
Cahill’s utilization of oil on canvas has allowed her work to demand thousands of pounds from collectors, and is part of the North West’s Comme Ca artist collective which also include; John Haworth, Vincent James and Ruth Molliett.
To experience Margaret Cahill’s juxtaposition of photography and painting, absence and presence, drop by The Lowry Hotel Art Gallery from Thursday 30th March…
