Win your workmates a day off in Blackpool

In days gone by, it was the norm during Wakes Week for local mills to take the entire week off work and head for the fresh air and fun of Blackpool. Now it could be your chance to convince the boss to turn back the clock and let you and your workmates hit the beach.

All you have to do is ask your employer to join in the spirit of Wakes Week – when whole towns would traditionally clock off work for a holiday.

visitBlackpool are offering one business from the North West the opportunity to spend a VIP day in the famous resort, travelling there in style by vintage bus with a return by rail.

Once in town, the lucky party will travel along the length of the promenade, stop for fish and chips and head to the Blackpool Tower for the heritage tour which takes you right to the top. The party will also enjoy tea and scones in the breathtaking ballroom and take in a performance of the magical Mooky’s Circus of Dreams.

All you have to do is ask your employer to join in the spirit of Wakes Week – when whole towns would traditionally clock off work for a holiday. You’ve worked hard all year; the least you deserve is a day out with your work pals enjoying the thrills and spills of the world’s most famous beach resort.

Just nominate your boss – having twisted their arm to give you all the day off – as the kindest, most fun-loving employer in the North West and the bus could be on its way to take you to Blackpool. Send their name, why your company deserves the day off (in no more than 100 words) and your contact details to julie@visitblackpool.com marking it WAKES WEEK TRIP to be in with a chance of winning. Entries must be received by Friday 7 August and winners will be informed on the same day. The winners must be available to travel on a weekday between Monday 10 and Friday 14 August. The VIP bus journey is available to a maximum of 30 people including children.

If you don’t win, why not book yourself a ticket for the Wakes Week Steam Train excursion which arrives in Blackpool on Sunday 9 August by calling 01253 478 222. Stopping to pick up passengers at Carnforth, Blackburn and Preston, the journey will evoke the 1950s when millions would flood into Blackpool for their summer fun. For more information about Wakes Week special events between 9-16 August and accommodation, go to www.visitblackpool.com or call 01253 478 222
