Win tickets to see The Dead 60s

The Dead 60s come to life in Liverpool

Win tickets to see The Dead 60s

If you thought that ska was dead in the UK well think again, post-punk-funk ska revivalists The Dead 60s are dragging it back to life.

Only officially formed four years ago, members of the Liverpool four-piece had previously played together in various incarnations with singer and guitarist Matt McManamon and bassist Charlie Turner playing together since they were 11 years old.

With a high energy punk sound laced with super heavy reggae and dub grooves, the band have often shied away from the commercial music scene.

"We want to make a social comment," says Turner. "Our songs should be graffitied on every wall in the country. We're interested in sloganeering, not interested in proper songwriting in the conventional sense."

Taking their influence from the likes of The Clash and The Specials, the socially conscious group received critical acclaim for their singles ‘Riot Radio’ and ‘Ghostfaced Killer’ from their self titled debut album. And with the release of their second album Time To Take Sides on August 13, now is the time to advantage of our competition and catch these guys before they become massive.

Having previously toured with the likes of Morrissey and Kasabian and played Glastonbury, the Liverpool four-piece are set to play the Carling Academy on Wednesday 15 August. Tickets are £8 and are available here. www.ticketline.co.uk
