Win tickets to see Anita Shreve

Author Anita Shreve will launch Manchester Literature Festival this Thursday – win tickets and a meal at the Midland

Published on October 7th 2008.

Win tickets to see Anita Shreve

Manchester Literature Festival starts this week with a rare UK appearance from best-selling novelist Anita Shreve.

This US author has penned 13 novels including The Weight of Water, The Pilot's Wife, Fortune's Rocks, A Wedding in December and Body Surfing. At The Dancehouse on Thursday 9 October, she'll talk to broadcaster and journalist Lynne Walker about her new book, Testimony – a fast-paced drama about a sex scandal in a New England boarding school.

Shreve's work was described by the Guardian as 'prolific, polished and unputdownable'. Her novels, which tend to be about extraordinary events happening to everyday people, have won her masses of fans over here and in her native country.

We've got two tickets for the event to give away, including dinner for two (with a bottle of house wine) at the Colony Restaurant in the Midland Hotel on Thursday 9 October. The winner can have dinner before or after the event, which starts at 7pm at The Dancehouse on Oxford Road.
