Win tickets for the Paralympic World Cup

The world's best Paralympians are coming to Manchester – and we've got 10 pairs of tickets to give away for the athletics event

Win tickets for the Paralympic World Cup

There's another massive sporting event about to start in the city, with top athletes from all over the globe taking part. The Paralympic World Cup takes place from 20 to 25 May, with up to 400 athletes from 41 countries competing in four sports: athletics, swimming, track cycling and wheelchair basketball.

The Paralympic World Cup has been held annually in Manchester for four years now. Tickets are only £3 per session, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than most events featuring top sports stars. Get down there and support them.

This is the first time that this many Paralympic athletes have met since Beijing – and with a total of 174 medallists taking part, there will be some closely-fought contests.

Competitors include South African swimming sensation Natalie Du Toit who became the first ever female amputee swimmer to qualify for both the Olympics and Paralympics last year. She was placed 16th in the inaugural Olympic 10km open water event, then went on to win five gold medals at the Paralympics a month later. She'll compete in the 100m freestyle event at the Manchester Aquatics Centre on Monday 25 May.

Britain’s triumphant Paralympic cycling team, who brought home a phenomenal medal haul of 17 golds and three silvers from Beijing, will also be at the event. The track cycling competition takes place on 20-22 May at the Manchester Velodrome.

One of the most popular sports associated with the Paralympics is the track and field athletics. With sprinting, distance running, throwing and jumping events all under one roof, it's a hit with spectators. This will take place at the Sportscity arena, as will the wheelchair basketball. Eight top international wheelchair basketball teams will battle against each other over five days of competition, with the finals taking place on Saturday 23rd May.
