Band on the Wall is welcoming the man who is affectionately called the Godfather of Jazz Funk to its stage. And we’ve got two pairs of tickets to give away.
Perhaps best known for his 1974 jazz funk classic Expansions, keyboardist Lonnie Liston Smith has played with some of the mightiest artists of our times including Miles Davis, Pharoah Sanders, Art Blakey, Marvin Gaye and countless others.
Since emerging from the 1960s' free jazz scene, Smith has successfully created his own fusion style incorporating jazz, funk and soul.
While he continues to tour, performing a great set at Glastonbury in 2009, this is an ultra rare opportunity to see him live in Manchester.
The concert will begin at 8pm on Tuesday 5 October (doors open at 7.30pm). The Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open from 5.30pm for delicious meals and drinks. The concert is presented as part of Black History Month. To buy tickets, cclick here.
Don’t forget that Heroes and Friends can get 20% off all Band on the Wall tickets – click here for full details.
