Band on the Wall is playing host to a big name on the world music scene on Tuesday 12 October, and we've got a pair of tickets to give away.
Hassan Erraji is an internationally-acclaimed blind master-musician and singer from Marrakesh. Along with his hot new band of young jazzy Moroccan Rollers, he'll bring to life a set of sensational new pieces from his long-awaited World Village album Awal Mara.
With Kaiser Chiefs’ producer Dave Creffield providing the attitude, the always charismatic Erraji embraces a thoroughly current and very danceable, contemporary global sound.
These new songs re-ignite the ancient and magical fire of stately bass and derbuka-driven Berber rhythms, and move effortlessly across a mosaic of lush Arabic oud, qanun power-chords, and soaring taarab-style strings.
According to record label Harmonia Mundi, it's ‘a comeback album of pure excellence’.
This seated concert will begin at 8pm on Tuesday 12 October (doors open at 7.30pm). The Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open from 5.30pm for delicious meals and drinks. To buy tickets, click here.
