The usual festivals consist of two days of living in a field in the middle of nowhere with mud up to your armpits. But Futuresonic is no ordinary festival. To kick off their string of spring events, Manchester City Council are keeping it urban.
Futuresonic 2007, sponsored by myspace.com, is an urban festival of art, music and ideas featuring over 30 major events with more than 100 acts and artists from around the world. There’s a sensational line up of performances, exhibitions and events across Manchester city centre, squeezed into three days of fun.
The festival's music strand, Music for the Beep Generation, features the likes of Kraftwerk's Wolgang Flur, French hip-hop sensation TTC and music pioneers, Faust.
The festival is also celebrating the fortieth anniversary of all things audio visual with Futurevisual, a programme of events, screenings and talks. And finally, keeping it Mancunian to its heart, this year's festival also includes ‘Art For Shopping Centres’ featuring a filmed Parkour performance combined with the everyday technology found in the shopping avenues of the Arndale Centre.
