Win a copy of The Big Book of City

The Big Book of City is the latest book by football historian and Mancunian author Gary James. Written in the spirit and style of traditional football annuals, it's a celebration of Manchester City’s players, games, goals and supporters.

The book includes two main themes – goalkeepers and Europe. It carries profiles of every Manchester City League keeper and every European game played by the Blues, and lots more besides.

There's the story of the Trawler Twelve – the intrepid band of supporters who attempted to journey to the Faroe Islands by trawler, plus the story of City in Berlin in 1937 when the Blues took on the German propaganda machine. There's also an explanation of where the name Maine Road actually came from – a surprising tale.

With golden goals, daily season reminders, City managers, quizzes, obscure history, and a timeline of City’s history, it's a comprehensive annual. Many rare images are also included, from the birth of the Blues through to goals from this season by Adebayor and Tevez.

Gary James, whose previous works include the acclaimed Manchester: A Football History, says: “It’s the type of book you can delve into for a few minutes or a few hours. It’s a collection of features designed to entertain. I really enjoyed researching and writing this book.”

The Big Book of City by Gary James is published by James Ward and is now available priced £19.95 (hardback). For further information go to www.manchesterfootball.org
