Win a QPod

Published on August 23rd 2005.

Having spent the last three months attempting to explain to people what a Qpod actually is, we’ve finally been able to publish a few pictures of the new little motor in all its off road glory. Some of you might STILL be asking what it actually is, but in short, it’s the most fun you can have on four wheels and Noel Edmonds intends to make the sporty machine a higher profile accessory than Mr Blobby.

A cross between a beach buggy, a pocket sized Smart car and a NASA moon buggy, the Qpod has enough of its own funky and unique features to makes its own mark on the off-road/on-road landscape.

You can take it off to the off road tracks and get covered in more mud than your average Glastonbury-goer, before coming home and cutting through the traffic and the champagne charlies in their flashy motors on their way to work the next morning.

Its even appeared on Top Gear, with Clarkson and co testing a range of off road quad bikes, motor bikes and go-carts. James May tested the Qpod and gave it top marks making it just as fun as a quad bike, but not as much a death trap, as Ozzy Osbourne and Rik Mayall have both found out in the last couple of years. The Government have recently gone to great lengths to publicise the fact that 1500 people every year are taken to hospital in quad bike accidents. When asked for his preferred choice of off road vehicle after taking the Qpod for a spin, James May commented: “It wouldn’t be the racing quads because you might as well just say ‘can I rent some death please?’”

It’s not JUST for off road use either, it can legally be used on the roads, as you’ll soon find out when the Manchester Confidential team will be seen giving it a spin around some of the city’s most notable landmarks.

Noel Edmonds, owner of the Unique Motor Company that’s promoting the new cars, is confident the Qpod is going to become huge, whilst remaining small and nippy if you get our drift. He’s looking for a few Manchester based entrepreneurs with a sense of adventure to get involved and help him distribute the vehicles whilst having a bit of fun at the same time.

He says: “Qpod is high profile, high quality and relatively low cost. There is simply nothing like it on the market. Just looking at it makes people feel good, driving one is a riot of fun and selling it is too. The people who want to buy a Qpod are by definition fun people looking to enjoy life. It’s the vehicles and the people who buy them that makes this business such a blast.

“We already have distributors throughout Yorkshire and South Wales. Now we are looking for someone to handle regions throughout Manchester.”

There are four main types of Qpod: The sport, city, work and fun.
