LESS than a month now until Manchester International Festival, and time to start planning your festival schedule of things you really don't want to miss.
They've just released a batch of new tickets for some of the biggest event
MIF has just released a batch of new tickets for some of the headline events – all premières created especially for the festival, and featuring some of the most exciting names from across the arts spectrum. Details on these are in the box below.
And you can win tickets here for a bunch of brilliant events taking place in The Festival Square (aka Albert Square). The heart of MIF, it's where you can eat, drink, enjoy and relax. Go there to see world-class acts 'in conversation' every lunch time, and to hear leading DJs every night.
Dave Haslam will conduct on-stage interviews with Neneh Cherry, Delphic, Jamal Edwards and others at 12.30pm each day in Festival Square. Hearing pioneering artists talk about their work can be an enlightening, inspiring experience – this could be a lunch break you remember for years.
At night Festival Square events include the opening night party from Drunk at Vogue, and definitive Manchester sounds from DJ Rob da Bank.

NEW TICKETS RELEASED FOR MIF
More tickets have been released for the following events. They won't be around long so book now if you want to go.
Massive Attack v Adam Curtis will be a 'collective hallucination' that binds the music and visual work of Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack with the vision of filmmaker Adam Curtis. It's taking place in the spectacular space of the Mayfield Depot, Manchester's vast, empty train station on Fairfield Street. Book here.
The Machine by award-winning playwright Matt Charman explores the battle between chess champion Garry Kasparov and the computer Deep Blue. The director, Josie Rourke was described as 'the next big thing' in British theatre by The Financial Times, while writer Charman has had his own share of rave reviews in the US. It's a stellar partnership that could be a highlight of the festival. Book here.
The Old Woman is another must-see for theatre fans. It's from pioneering director Robert Wilson (The Life and Death of Marina Abramović, MIF11) and stars legendary dancer and actor Mikhail Baryshnikov alongside world-renowned actor Willem Dafoe. With echoes of Beckett and Ionesco, it follows the story of a struggling writer who cannot find peace with himself. Book here.
New tickets have also been released for The Masque of Anarchy – a dramatised, re-interpretation of Shelley's famous poem inspired by The Peterloo Massacre. Starring Maxine Peake, and staged in the Albert Hall, it looks set to be a powerful, stirring performance. Book here.
Macbeth starring Kenneth Branagh and Alex Kingston sold out in record time, but you can now get tickets to this live big screen relay of it in the city centre. Book here.
