If you've already become a victim of the Victorian fashion trend this season, why not lend your ear to the latest in 'Victorian funk', so named by the up and coming Shortwave Set. Currently supporting Goldfrapp on their UK tour, the band are set this Spring to release their second track Is it any wonder, which will be hitting our stereos on March 27th 2006 - just in time to eradicate those winter blues.
Shortwave Set's riotous performances at the Soho Arts Club come complete with supplementary activities that are eagerly awaited by all those who leave their dignity at the door of the scandalously chaotic club. With live auctions and tombolas to boot it's a truly unique experience (and for 5 quid why not?), and you stand a real chance of walking away with some prized junk shop collectables. The band dubbed their last pawn shop night, held on the 13th February as 'a chaotic ramshackle yet magnificent pawn shop night'.
The forthcoming single has been taken from their debut album The Debt Collection, which was released in April last year. After a quiet year, the trio is back nearly 18 months after the release of their debut single Slingshot, which was described at the time as 'a rickety, clumsily cut up and put back together stroke of genius.'
With the tour commencing on March 1st, we're giving away a pair of tickets to their Manchester gig.
If you're the type that appreciates the quirkiness of such off beat music, and the 'gorgeous' vocals of Andrew Petitt, then you need to get your hands on some tickets. To be in with a chance of wining ours enter your details below.
