Since last Friday, the most talented jazz acts from all over the world have been performing around the city as part of the Manchester Jazz festival.
The event kicked off with a blistering performance by trumpet legend Ralph Alessi and an exciting show by local favourites Honeyfeet. Three days in, the party is fully alive with a string of world-class artists still to take the stage.
Tickets are still available for shows on July 28 until July 31. You can see Phil Bancroft's inventive show, Home, Small as the World, which combines an interactive website with live performance at the RNCM; Mancunian favourites Cabbage Alley will be showcasing their uplifting, soulful sound at Matt and Phred's Jazz Club and Stuart McCallum, Golden Age of Steam and Trio VD will be bring their unique jazz styles to the Festival Pavilion in Albert Square.
On Saturday July 31, the final day of the festival, Beats 'n' Pieces Big Band and Dark Knights of Soul will be at the Festival Pavilion. Both of these Mancunian ensembles combine jazz styles like big band, jazz, funk and soul with the modern influence of pop and rock to create an edgy sound.
