Queen to move to Manchester

Will the decision to relocate the Royal Family to Manchester be good for the city?

Published on March 31st 2009.

Queen to move to Manchester

Ever since the BBC decided to move north to Manchester and Salford with five major departments, the city and the North West Development Agency have been working hard to bring up other London-based institutions.

The announcement this week that the Royal Family and the Queen were to relocate is very welcome and clearly the right thing to do. Initially the Queen will take up residence in Heaton Hall in Heaton Park. She’s said this will give her room to exercise the corgis and that she’s delighted to be in Manchester as it’s her favourite city and she likes nothing better than a night out at Thomas’s Chop House, followed by a curry in Rusholme. The Duke of Edinburgh told us that he’s pleased he’ll be able to take trips on the vintage trams.

The other Royals will be variously located around the city, with Prince Charles in Platt Fields Hall, Princess Anne in Wythenshawe Hall, and the two Royal princes in a flat in the Hacienda apartments. Their favourite club is said to be the Ritz.

This move will make Manchester effectively the capital of the country. The Queen is after all the Head of State and thus government will have to come to the city to seek Royal approval for Acts of Parliament, going to war and so forth.

But what do you think? Is this a good idea, do we want the monarch to live amongst us or would we rather she stayed in London?

Its best to keep her snf her posh brood in the bigest council house in the world ie Buck House in London. keep all the bankers, royals, financiers etc and all the other parasites together in one city. Why should they get their hands on REAL culture. Happy April 1st lol.
