How to make your business boom at Elevation 08

Fancy meeting Nick Leeson, the original Rogue Trader and hearing his side of the story?

How to make your business boom at Elevation 08

What about the amazing Steve Cram MBE, three times world record holder, or Dennis Turner, one of the most incisive, yet hilarious city economists. And, don't forget Keith Warren, The Hughes Company communications expert? We could all learn a thing or two about that.

I was dragged along to Elevation ‘07 last year, the one day business conference organised by Champion, the accountants and George Davies Solicitors LLP, the solicitors. I don't normally 'do' Gurus and promotional speakers, but my chairman insisted that I would enjoy it as well as maybe learn something from it. On the day, I finished up really enjoying it, as well as taking away a number of ideas that I implemented into my sales force, which helped the sales team here at Manchester Confidential nearly doubling their turnover over the last ten months. I actually found the whole day a real trip.

Sir Matthew Pinsent CBE was a revelation. He took the audience through the preparations, physically and mentally which led the team to the gold medals. I couldn't believe the efforts that these guys went to for their results. Inspirational? You bet.

This year I will be there. Steve Cram, nick named the 'Jarrow Arrow' should be well worth listening to. Dennis Turner, apart from being a hoot, will no doubt give us his ideas on the economy for the next couple of years.

But, the star of the show for me will be Nick Leeson, the man who broke Barings Bank. Nick, by all accounts, has become an accomplished speaker and his subject matter intensely interesting for any of us who believe that we should be good students of human nature.

The day starts at nine am and goes on until four thirty, the event takes place in New Century House underneath the CO-OP tower. Lunch is served and is a lot better than I thought it would be. You can buy individual tickets, or take a table and use it for a bit of corporate entertaining. Something a bit different to the usual. Or if you feel lucky why don't you enter the competition below as Champion and George Davies Solicitors LLP have given us two tickets to give away to this special event.
