Grimm Up North Halloween Horror Festival

Win tickets to The Descent 2 film premiere plus Resident Evil T-shirts and figurines

Published on October 23rd 2009.

From Thursday 29 October-Sunday 1 November the Printworks is set to become a scary, scary place.

This is the Grimm Up North Festival's first year, and having secured fifteen regional, European, national and even World premieres at the Odeon in the Printworks, they're hoping it will be the first of many.

To celebrate Halloween, the Grimm Up North Festival is three-days and nights of film premieres, cult classics, Q&A sessions with actors and directors, horror-themed computer gaming, special effects exhibitions and celebrity parties.

The festival kicks off with the North West premiere of Brit horror flick The Descent 2 on Thursday 29 October. The Gala Screening will be attended by director Jon Harris and stars Myanna Buring and Anna Skellern.

Friday sees the world premieres of UK horror, The Reeds and rural shocker The Fallow Field, UK premieres of the psychopathic Tony, the savage 7th Hunt, the North West Premiere of Clive Barker’s Dread and the UK premiere of the outrageous Someone’s knocking at the door.

Saturday offers UK premieres of zombie buddy comedy The Revenant, postmodern desert shocker The graves, rambunctious Romanian vampire comedy Strigoi, and flies the flag for the North West with the locally produced psycho-shocker Splintered.

Sunday is no day of rest, either. While zombies rampage around Manchester, the Grimm Festival will be premiering the long-awaited undead horror Autumn from the cult novels by David Moody, the outback slasher Slaughtered, and the infamous £45 zombie movie Colin.

There’ll be aliens, predators, imperial stormtroopers and all manner of other unlikely creatures wandering the festival venue all weekend as well as a whole host of directors and stars attending to support the screenings of their films. Look out for the real Pin Head and his Cenobites from Hellraiser. Enjoy classics such as Carpenter’s Halloween and Romero’s Dawn of the Dead as well as lots of movie related competitions.

Capcom, the video game giant, will also be showcasing their new Resident Evil: the Darkside Chronicles Wii game at the festival, a whole month before it hits the shops.
