Free your mind

If you’re searching for some ‘me time’ in October, then pop along to the Mind, Body, Spirit Festival.

Published on October 9th 2006.

Free your mind

In a world where we spend most of our day threatening to chuck the computer out of the window, gesticulating offensively in heavy traffic and then winding down with four pints of Stella, you may think it’s too late to hop off the hamster wheel. But you’d be wrong.

And although many individuals have swapped office politics for the good life, become yoga gurus or take to a Tibetan retreat to practice Buddhism, there are more accessible ways to incorporate some peace, love and harmony into your daily routine.

A good starting place is the Mind, Body, Spirit Northern Festival which will be held at the G-Mex Centre from 20 - 22 October. And judging by the fact that the festival is now in its 11th year, supports the theory that more people are searching for alternative therapies or lifestyle choices.

And don’t be thinking it’s all a bit too “age of Aquarius” either. It’s all about searching for balance and the 120 stands they have on offer range from smoothie bars, lotions, potions, nice smellies to psychic readings, crystal healing and energy routing.

Gill Edwards teaches how learning how to have unconditional love can help you avoid seeking constant approval, safety and control in your relationships. Lesley Gort who is a spiritual healer takes the metaphysical approach to health. Savita Patel demonstrates her amazing non-surgical facelift and there is also the facility to have your blood analysed to identify imbalances and weak areas in the body.

There’s yoga demonstrations, performances like dance fusion, plus you can have your aura photographed or treat yourself to a massage session.

Sharon Adams, Managing Director says: “We always enjoy bringing the festival to Manchester, where it is received with great enthusiasm. Regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey or if you’re merely curious, there is sure to be something here that will interest or inspire you.”

So when the city streets seem like a cruel mistress, scurry into the Mind, Body, Spirit Festival and you may just find yourself floating out.

The 11th Annual Festival is on from 20 - 22 October, 10am – 6pm. Tickets on Friday cost £5 for everyone. Tickets at the weekend cost £7 for adults and £5 concessions.

We have 25 pairs of tickets to giveaway for the Mind, Body, Spirit Festival. To be in with the chance to win, enter your details in the form below and you will be contacted via email.
