Since they played here last year, The Cat Empire have become so big that their UK gigs are all but sold out. And it's no wonder they're so popular – their sound is a fusion of jazz, ska, funk and rock with heavy Latin influences which is bound to get any party crowd going.
The Cat Empire is a six-piece band based in Melbourne - but more if you count the horn section, the singers and their mates who get up as guests. They refuse to exclude any style of music from their dynamic sound – in fact founder Ollie McGill says playing in The Cat Empire is like playing in 18 different bands.
Since they started as a trio in 1999 The Cat Empire have released four albums on Virgin Records, but 2007 could be world domination year and they have got things off to an auspicious start with a sell-out tour and an appearance next week on The Letterman show in the US.
But before this Empire goes global, you can say you saw them right here in Liverpool, at the Carling Academy on Thursday February 22.
We have two pairs of tickets to give away today. To be in with a chance of winning them, fill in your details below, and we may well be calling you up very shortly
