To mark the end of its América season the RNCM Symphony Orchestra travels to The Bridgewater Hall on Friday 24 June for an evening of some of the best music America has to offer.
Led by world-renowned conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier, the programme will include Bartok’s Concert for Orchestra, one of the composer’s finest showpieces, and Gershwin’s Catfish Row (Symphonic Suite from Porgy and Bess).
The night also promises a selection from Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs, sung by mezzo-soprano and RNCM graduate Kathryn Rudge, who is set to embark on a glittering career with ENO this autumn. There will be a few other surprises along the way too - not least a fiesta-like ending that will ensure the RNCM’s American adventure really does go out with a bang!
The RNCM Symphony Orchestra with conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier and mezzo-soprano Kathryn Rudge, can be seen at the Bridgewater Hall, on Friday 24 June at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £16 and £13. Call 0161 907 5555 or book online at www.rncm.ac.uk
