A WARRINGTON woman has been trampled to death by a herd of cows as she walked her dogs. The unnamed vet was pronounced dead at the scene on Pennine Way after what the National Farmers’ Union have called a “dreadful but rare incident”. It is thought the normally docile cows may have felt threatened by the dogs and turned aggressive.
ARROWE PARK hospital has confirmed a second case of swine flu. Arrowe Park Hospital’s first case has made a full recovery and returned to work on June 15, the second patient already off work with symptoms. The Health Protection Agency has said the two office workers have not been in contact with patients, with close contacts being treated, with only “a few examples of swine flu circulating in the workplace in the North West region”.
A ROBBER knocked an elderly man to the ground before stealing his car. The 76-year-old was shutting the gate next to the car park at Walton Hall sports centre, when the thief ran at him, pushing him to the ground. As he sped off, the thief drove the car over the pensioner’s foot. The white Ford Focus was later found dumped in Ince Avenue, Anfield.
COUNCIL documents have revealed Wirral residents face council tax increases due to budget deficits. Deputy leader of the council, Simon Holbrook, said financial conditions are likely to be “really tough” in the coming years, the deficit believed to be £80m over the next four years.
