Secret files
THE chief constable of South Yorkshire today vowed to do his utmost to make public up to 300 boxes of secret Hillsborough files.
Meredydd Hughes said his force had “no secrets” and added that he doubted whether the 20-year-old files would lead to a ‘major reappraisal.’
It followed a call for document release by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith over the weekend.
Top of the Bill
BILL Kenwright has hailed club Everton boss David Moyes as the "the greatest manager in the world".
"Evertonians owe everything to David Moyes, he took on our club when it was on its knees,” Kenwright, 63, told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"We laid out a plan and he has never come off it. I worship the man.”
Furthermore: "He's my best friend in football and I'd do anything for him.”
Biscuit woe
UNION Leaders are to lobby MPs over plans to axe 170 jobs at the United Biscuits factory in Binns Road, Wavetree.
The Unite union said staff deserved better treatment and will be at Westminster urging MPs to to support the campaign against the closure which would see the jobs transferred to India.
The factory makes Mini Cheddars and McVities biscuits and Jaffa Cakes.
On Saturday employees marched through Liverpool city centre to rally support to save their jobs.
Gerry 'cross the Mersey
Gerry Marsden boarded a Mersey ferry to receive the Freedom of the City of Liverpool last night.The singer, 66, was honoured by Lord Mayor Cllr Steve Rotheram. in front of 500 family, friends and guests aboard the ferry.
