Plot plan postponed
A DECISION into whether a former Lord Mayor of Liverpool can build a house in his garden has been deferred. Councillor Paul Clark’s planning application was due to be discussed yesterday but was removed from the planning committee’s agenda for further discussions. Cllr Clark’s plans include sectioning off part of his extensive Aigburth garden to build a detached, four-bedroom house.
Double act
A WOMAN who said she was caring for her two daughters alone to claim nearly £47,000 in benefits has been jailed for four months.
Sandra Fitzsimmons told the authorities she was a single parent but Liverpool Crown Court heard her husband, John, was actually living at the family home.
Fitzsimmons, of Watford Road, Kirkdale, admitted two counts of failing to give prompt notification of a change of circumstances.
Baby tragedy
SOUTHPORT MP John Pugh has demanded an inquiry over the death of a four-day-old baby boy who was driven eight miles to a hospital and past his nearest.
Paramedics rushed to the house in Southport, at 1.20am yesterday, and tried to resuscitate the child who had suspected heart problems.
But when they radioed to Southport and Formby District Hospital, they were told to take the child to Ormskirk.
The ambulance finally arrived at Ormskirk A&E at 2.05am, but the baby later died.
Doctor accused
A DOCTOR at University Hospital Aintree has been accused of indecently touching three nursing assistants and making inappropriate comments, the General Medical Council has heard. Dr Waqar Azim denies the allegations.
